High level meeting calls for tighter Road Safety Action Plan

Lucknow: Under the guidance of the Chief Minister, a road safety meeting was held with all the stakeholder departments and field officers of Transport, Police, Transport Corporation, PWD Department under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Transport L. Venkateshwar Lu. The meeting was reviewed on the basis of PPT.

The Additional Chief Secretary directed to organize the District Road Safety Committee meeting every month on the basis of new SOP. He said that the Action Taken Plan should be made at the district level and implemented. In many divisions and districts where the meetings of the Divisional Road Safety Committee and District Road Safety Committee are not being held regularly, the officials there were warned and asked for clarification. A three-tier committee will be formed to investigate such road accidents where more than 03 people have died. He directed that action for suspension of vehicle registration and driving license should be taken effectively after a certain number of challans. Finally, while directing to comply with the instructions of the Chief Minister, he directed everyone to take effective steps to reduce accidents by 50 percent.

Road safety meeting should be organized every month

Additional Chief Secretary Transport directed that Vishwakarma App be upgraded. He also instructed to create a state-wide road safety dashboard like CM Dashboard. He said that the state government is very serious about the road accidents.

The government is trying to bring about the mentioned reduction in road accidents. For this, he instructed to improve the black spots within the stipulated time. He said that overloaded vehicles should be checked at the entry point on the highways and overspeeding vehicles should also be checked by interceptors. Along with this, unauthorized operating vehicles should also be checked. The driver should be checked through breath analyzer. It should also be checked whether road safety related equipment is installed on the vehicles or not.

Checking of overloaded/overspeed vehicles should be done

The officials of Transport Corporation were directed to conduct regular breath analyser test of the drivers/operators of Transport Corporation and special attention should be paid to health test and eye test. Anti-sleep devices will be installed in 600 buses and after testing its functioning, the said devices will be installed in other buses as well.

Economic Advisor to Chief Minister K.V. Raju, Managing Director Masoom Ali Sarwar, IG Traffic Directorate and officials of all stakeholder departments were present in the meeting.
